Résumé
Starting from the evident allusion to the ritual self-castration of the Cybele’s priests – the Galli - in the vv. 278-280 M. of the Book VII of Lucilius’ Satires, this paper proposes a Cybelic reading of two other passages from the same book: vv. 264-265 M. and 288-289 M. The former can be related to a man who is giving a description of his own metamorphosis to a Gallus. The latter can be interpreted as a description of the iactatio comae, the crucial step of the ritual dance of the Galli, that permit them to attain the ecstasy. I suggest also a contextualization of these three passages that can be read in relation to other passages of the Book VII, as a tale of the special revenge of a betrayed husband who becomes a Gallus in order to punish his unfaithful wife
